Porsche has revealed 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS. The new GTS twins more power and a six-speed manual transmission as standard.
In the new GTS series, the 2.5-litre four-cylinder Boxer of the Porsche’s mid-engine sports car range is tuned to a new intake duct and an optimised turbocharger. The result is a 15bhp boost in power over the standard 718 S to the now 361bhp. The transmission is a six-speed manual or an optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK).
The GTS also adds a host of optional packages as standard such as the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which lowers the body by 10millimetres. The maximum torque of 430Nm is now available to the right foot between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. With the PDK transmission and the added Chrono Package, the GTS twins can accelerate to a 100kmph in just 4.1 seconds and top out at 290kmph.
With all the performance upgrades, the visual cues of the GTS include the black-tinted bi-Xenon headlights, tinted tail lights, black logos, a black rear apron and the blacked-out centre-positioned sports exhausts. There are black GTS logos at the base of the doors. The 20-inch alloy wheels are painted in a satin black finish to complete the overall appearance of the GTS variant.
The Stuttgart-based sports car maker says that both the 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS are now available to order. However, deliveries are expected to begin only in March 2018. The German prices start at 76,137 Euros for the Cayman GTS and 78,160 Euros for the Boxster GTS. Porsche is expected to bring the GTS-badged 718 twins to India as well once they hit the roads in the international markets. The 2018 718 GTS twins will make their official public debut at next month’s Los Angeles Motor Show.
