A few years ago, Porsche showcased a concept called Sport Turismo at the Paris Motor Show and now we have pictures of this car being tested.

The prototype seen here is basically Porsche’s Panamera wagon, which is reportedly expected to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It tries hard to hide the design around the C-pillar, headlamps and taillights. It is highly likely that these traits will be quite similar to the Panamera saloon albeit with a few reworked bits.

So what else can one expect? With the new body shell design, one can expect a fairly larger cargo section on the wagon, which in the saloon can accommodate up to 495litres. Under the hood, power for the new vehicle should ideally come from the saloon’s current stable that includes a 440bhp biturbo 2.9-litre V6, a biturbo 4.0-litre V8 with 422bhp, and the top of the line 542bhp biturbo 4.0-litre V8. Porsche may possibly also introduce a plug-in hybrid version, which would be a bit short on boot space, and will use a biturbo 2.9-litre V6 mated to an electric motor that’s good for a total of 462bhp.

Porsche’s upcoming wagon is expected to be first available in the European market by the second half of 2017 before hitting markets worldwide soon after that. More on this in the months to come, so stay tuned.
