Porsche’s earlier 911 GT3’s Nurburgring lap time has been crushed by its 2018 911 GT3 by a massive 12.3 seconds to become Porsche’s second fastest car to have lapped the ‘Ring.

Porsches new 911 GT3 smashes earlier models Nurburgring lap time

While Porsche’s new 911 GT3 clocked the lap in 7:12.7, the Porsche that continues to be at the top is the 887bhp 918 Spyder which did the ‘Ring lap in 6:57. Let’s take a look at what helped this iteration pull off this feat. Reports claim that the reworked 4.0-litre flat-six powerplant, which makes 500bhp and 458Nm of torque, and a whole 25bhp more than the previous model played a major role here. This is coupled with some smart aerodynamics like a new front fascia which optimises airflow, and a larger front and rear diffuser. Just to remind you, the latest 911 GT3 that broke its predecessor’s ‘Ring lap time, came with the standard PDK transmission, carbon ceramic brakes (an optional extra), rear-axle steering, and a set of Michelins, all that can be bought straight from the car maker.

It is commendable that with only mild tweaks, the new 911 GT3 has made a substantial jump in output which is obvious in the new Nurburgring lap time it recorded.
