Piaggio has launched the Vespa RED special edition scooter in India at Rs 87,009 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The special edition scooter features an all-red theme.
The Vespa RED is a collaboration between Piaggio and the charitable organisation, RED. The scooter has been built for a good cause as a $50 proceed from the sale of each unit of the Vespa RED will GO towards supporting the fight against AIDS.
Underneath the RED theme, the scooter is a VXL 125. It uses a 125cc air-cooled engine that produces 9.90bhp and 10.60Nm of torque.
The Vespa RED was first introduced in Rome in 2016, and was based on the flagship Vespa 946. Piaggio discontinued the 946 in India as it did not fare well on account of its heavy price tag. So Vespa developed this new RED special edition model based on the VXL 125 exclusively for India.
The scooter is priced close to its siblings, the SXL 125 and VXL 150. Bookings for the scooter have already begun and deliveries will commence by next month.
