      Pawan Goenka promoted as Executive Director at Mahindra & Mahindra

      On 23rd September, 2013, Mahindra & Mahindra had appointed Dr. Pawan Goenka as its Executive Director. Notably, this is the first ED appointment that is made to the board of the company since the year 1992. Mr. Pawan, now will be designated as Executive Director and President (Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors).

      Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, commenting on this appointment said, “Pawan has played an integral role in transforming the Group's automotive product development capabilities, and has provided growth and strategic direction to both automotive and tractor businesses. I am confident that he will add tremendous value to the Board by providing fresh insights and invaluable guidance on key issues facing the Company.”

      On being honoured by this new higher designation, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Direct and President (Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors) expressed his gratifications. He reportedly quoted, “I am truly honoured and delighted to joint the Mahindra Board. I am fortunate to have been guided by one of the most respected Boards in the country, and have worked with an excellent team in my twenty years at Mahindra. I look forward to the future with a greater sense of responsibility, and will strive to contribute my best to the meet the long term aspirations of all stakeholders.”

      Dr. Goenka had joined the company in the year 1993 as General Manager R&D. With the help of his keen eyes and passionate work, he played a transformational role in the company's auto sector R&D. He shouldered the development of many new products which also include Scorpio SUV. In September 2001, he became Executive Vice President-Product Development and saw a subsequent promotion in April 2003 as chief Operating Officer of the Automotive Sector. Due to his ability to produce good results, he was, in September 2005, appointed as President (Automotive Sector). Subsequently in April 2010, he was honoured by the post of President (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors).
