BMW will launch the new-generation MINI range in the Indian car market on November 19, 2014. The new MINI range gets the same retro-futuristic looks, and comes with spacious cabin and large boot space. The company will launch the new MINI hatchback and the new MINI 5-door version. While the 3-door model will replace the current model, the five-door version is one of its kinds and will be offered for the first time in the country.
Initially, BMW will introduce the MINI Cooper range including the Cooper D and Cooper S variants. The new MINI hatchback is bigger than the outgoing model. The hatchback model is 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than the previous model, while the wheelbase has grown by 28mm. The 5-door version of the MINI measures 4,005mm in length, 1,727mm in width and 1,425mm in height, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2,567mm. This model is around 162mm longer and 11mm taller than the 3-door model. It offers a decent luggage space of 278-litres, thanks to an increase of wheelbase by 72mm. The rear seats are fully-foldable, thus offering an impressive boot capacity of 941 litres.
The MINI range is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The MINI Cooper petrol will feature the 3-cylinder, 1.5L unit that produces 138PS and 220Nm of torque, whereas, the powerful Cooper S variant will get the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 192PS and 280Nm of torque. Keeping high demand for diesel cars in mind, the new-generation MINI 5-door version is likely to get turbocharged diesel engine only. The oil is likely to be the 118PS, 1.5L 3-cylinder units.
