As Nissan Motor Company celebrates the success of its compact crossover Qashqai, one car maker seems to be in desperate search of manoeuvres in order to join the league or rather rise higher than its rival.

Recently, Honda Chief Executive Officer, Takanobu Ito said that the ecstatic performance of Nissan's crossover Qashqai has not gone down well with the company. He added that the company is contemplating over drawing effective and efficient plans that would subsequently give rise to a strong competitor that would contend against the Qashqai.

The model that Honda would bring out to hurt the sales performance of Qashqai is expected to exclusively target the European market, in a bid to increase the size of its dominance in the market. As a matter of fact, Honda’s 1.6-Litre 120 hp and 300 Nm diesel engine would find a place in the Civic during 2013.

Thus, on the face of it, Honda seems to already have an engine for the Honda compact crossover in store; the vehicle that is likely to hit the roads in the near future. Moreover, in order to follow the footsteps of the Qashqai completely, there is a high probability that Honda would affix a diesel engine to the future crossover.

It is important to note that the compact SUVs and crossovers have been provided with a growth path in the market, especially by the Indian auto industry. Therefore, efforts to produce a compact crossover, as soon as possible, would irrefutably be present at the top of the to-do list of Honda.

India can be eyed upon as a potential market for compact crossovers as the car buyers are expected to prefer these over sedans, owing to the former's off-road capabilities and coveted boldness quotient they showcase.

Thus, with Honda and other car makers set to target the compact SUV and crossover segment of the Indian market, the buyers can expect limitless variety and best deals in the coming time.
