The Indian unit of the leading Japanese car maker Nissan Motors on Thursday launched a limited edition of its compact luxury sports utility vehicle – Nissan X-Trail – in the Indian market. The new limited edition has been launched as a part of an adventure reality show called 'X-treme Trail'.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the launch of this new version of X-Trail in a ceremony held in Mumbai, the company said that new SUV will come powered by a 2.0L diesel engine and it will carry a price tag of Rs 22.79 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The X-Trail model is currently being imported to India as a completely being unit (CBU) from its base market. The SUV is currently competing with the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevrolet Captiva and Ford Endeavour.
The reality show will be featured on a number of leading TV channels including Nat Geo, Fox Traveller, Star World and Channel V. The show will be a six-part series and will be premiered on these TV channels on November 5. Going ahead, the reality show will form a part of company’s marketing program for this SUV.
Besides X-Trail, the company’s current portfolio in India includes compact hatchback Micra, mid size sedan Sunny, premium luxury sedan Teana and luxury sports car 370Z.
