      Nissan Unveils its Small Car Micra for the Indian Market

      Nissan Motors India Limited unveiled its small car model Nissan Micra for the Indian customers. The company has already started bookings for the car and has also launched its official website: nissanmicra.co.in. Nissan has currently appointed its dealers in 11 cities of India viz., Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cochin, Pune and Ludhiana. Nissan has already received 400 bookings for its cars pan India.

      The first Nissan Micra rolled out of company’s Chennai facility. Nissan will begin delivery of its cars from 15th of July 2010 and intends to roll out 80,000 units in the current financial year.

      "Nissan India will ship components worth USD 10 million this year. In 2011, we will export components to the tune of USD 20 million and by 2012 worth USD 40 million," said Nissan Motor India managing director and chief executive officer Kiminobu Tokuyama on the sidelines of the launch. The components which are being sourced from various vendors include side air bags, brake pedals and oil pumps.

      Nissan’s Chennai facility’s production capacity can be ramped up to 4 lakh units. Tokuyama said that it will increase production in due course of time but did not give a time frame for the same.
