Nissan Motor Co., the leading Japanese automaker, has revealed its plans of launching a concept version of its mid size segment sports utility vehicle Pathfinder, at the forthcoming Detroit Auto Show which commences on 9th January, 2012. Nissan has also released the first look of this concept vehicle which has already been grabbing attention of various car enthusiasts.

In the 1980s, the Pathfinder positioned itself as a newcomer in the mid-sized SUV segment and faced competition from the likes of the Ford Bronco II and Toyota 4Runner. Nissan has reinvented this traditional seven seater SUV keeping intact its original features and coupled it with a new chassis and an aerodynamic body. Moreover, it is set to come with a four wheel drive with traditional roofline and integrated cargo rails that is aimed at making the driving experience more safe, comfortable and efficient.

Along with Nissan, Ford and Chrysler are also gearing up to give a tough competition to the Pathfinder by restructuring their SUVs to give the feel and ease of a car ride.

The Pathfinder will be made available for sale by the mid of 2012, however, Nissan will be showcasing a glance of this SUV at the International Auto Show at Detroit to mark the entry of a highly competitive and improvised mid-sized SUV in the international auto market.
