Nissan intends to launch nine new models in the Indian market by 2012. “Our product launch plan to India is aggressive, as we have planned to line-up nine models by 2012, of which five models will be produced in India and four models will be the imports from Japan,” said Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO.

He also said that company’s first milestone is to have more than 100 dealerships across India and achieve sales target of more than one lakh units annually. He further stated that the company will be bringing the diesel variant of its latest small car model Micra in India before the end of this year. Nissan will also commence exports of Micra to overseas market from this month. "We will start shipping Micra models to overseas markets European, Middle East and African markets from our plant in Chennai from this month," said Tokuyama.

Nissan sold 928 units of Micra nationwide in July while it sold 1249 units in August 2010. Nissan currently retails SUV X-Trail, luxury sedan Teana and sports model 370Z in India apart from its hatchback model Micra.
