There have been many ongoing talks regarding the comparison of Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano with the latter scheduled to be unveiled on 20th August 2013. It is being said that the more refined and aggressive styling of Terrano might work in its favour. It shall be interesting to see how the Renault Duster is affected by the arrival of the Nissan Terrano.

Terrano is a re-badged SUV made by Nissan under its alliance with Renault. The Duster has enjoyed huge market success owing to its affordability, efficiency and superior comfort level. Nissan is planning to launch the Terrano, which will be equipped with more features that might make things tough for the Duster. The re-styled tailgate and masculine bonnet of Terrano give it an edge over Duster. The front of Terrano features an attractive chrome grille and elongated headlamps that are provided on a broad bumper, which make it look quite different from Duster. However, a major advantage that rests with Renault is the affordability factor.

As of now, the compact SUV segment is witnessing launches of many vehicles by major auto makers, who wish to gain a considerable market share by entering this segment. With the recent success of newly launched Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, the focus of major car makers now lies in the compact SUV segment.

In order to save costs that are incurred in designing as well as engineering, companies resort to badge engineering. Meanwhile, both companies announced their plans to stop sharing their products in India after the launch of Terrano. According to sources, the two companies have been sharing their technologies and production platforms since 2010. Nissan and Renault have shared platforms for Sunny and Scala along with Micra and Pulse.
