The Nissan Leaf has been on sale since 2010, and the carmaker is gearing up to introduce an all new generation of the EV soon. Now, Nissan has released the first teaser image of the car which it has promised to reveal later this year.

      Nissan teases all-new Leaf EV

The Leaf is one of the few successful EVs sold around the world with 2,60,000 units on road today, according to the Japanese carmaker. But with competition like the Chevrolet Bolt and the forthcoming Tesla Model 3 catching up, Nissan understands it’s a high time that the boring Leaf got a new surge of life. Looking at the teased headlights, it’s evident that the new Leaf would be more angular and sharp with advanced LEDs, compared to its dull looking predecessor. The carmaker’s new design philosophy ‘V-Motion 2.0’ is expected to be seen in all its glory in the new Leaf. It’s been confirmed that the new Leaf will adopt a more aggressive styling similar to the newest Micra, thanks to the spy shot images spotted a few weeks ago.

Apart from the prominent exterior changes, the zero-emission hatch is also expected to receive a new-and-updated electric powertrain with an increased range of up to 550 kilometres. That’s twice the range of the current car and almost 150 kilometres more than the recently introduced Renault Zoe. Apart from the extended range, the new Leaf will also boast of the carmaker’s ProPILOT autonomous technology. The carmaker intends to make the new Leaf a segment leader when it goes on sale next year.
