Nissan India that phased out the X-Trail SUV in 2014 has now discontinued its other slow-selling product - the Teana D-segment sedan. Despite being quite a capable luxury sedan, the Teana failed to generate volumes for the carmaker in India. The company has removed the saloon from its official website, giving a clear indication that the product is no more available in our market.

Nissan started its innings in our country with two products- the X-Trail and Teana, but both models are now discontinued from the market. However, the company is also planning to launch the new generation models. The major reason behind the failure of Teana could be its introduction timing. When it was launched, the Honda Accord was ruling the market.

Last year, Nissan India sold only 15 units of the Teana sedan compared to 1336 units sold of the Skoda Superb saloon. Nissan Teana is propelled by a 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 182bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 228Nm at 4400rpm. This engine is clubbed to a CVT automatic transmission. The vehicle was offered in two variants- the XL and the XV. While the Teana XL was priced at Rs. 21.03 lakh, the range topping XV cost Rs. 24.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
