Nissan India will launch the refreshed version of its Sunny sedan tomorrow. The sedan’s successor model will be available for sale in both petrol and diesel guise in a total of eight variants. Along with manual variants, automatic trims could also be put on offer. Exhibited earlier at the 2014 Auto Expo held in the month of February in Greater Noida, the sedan flaunted minor changes. Cosmetic touch ups have been done on the exterior and interior fronts of the vehicle.

In the front new chrome garnished trapezoid grille, large boomerang-shaped headlights, and revamped bumpers can be seen. On the rear a small bootlid spoiler with a stoplight has been added. Nissan is likely to offer preeminent safety features like Anti-Lock-Braking-System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) System and driver airbag as standard equipments on the base model. The top-of-the-line model in the Sunny range is expected to come with additional features like brake assist, engine immobiliser, and front passenger side airbag.

The engine set includes two mills-a 1.5-litre petrol motor and a 1.5-litre dCi diesel mill. The 1.5 litre petrol motor is capable of delivering a maximum power of 98bhp and is likely to be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Besides a manual gearbox a CVT could also be offered on the petrol variants. The 1.5-litre dCi diesel motor will come synchronized to a 5-speed manual gearbox only.

Addition of new equipments and several tweaks could result in a slight price bump, however actual price list will be revealed tomorrow at the launch. In its three years itinerary the sedan has not been able to carve a niche for itself, however hopes are high from the tweaked model. Competition has got stiffer in C segment, launch of new vehicles and facelifted versions of old models has made the survival difficult in C segment. The segment favorites include models like new Honda City Hyundai Verna, and updated Fiesta diesel among others.
