A new set of alloy wheels will be seen in the new version of sedan, besides this, electrically adjustable OVRMs will also be equipped enhancing the side profile of the vehicle. Minimal changes have been made to the rear of the sedan. Nissan will continue to offer Sunny sedan with the same set of petrol and diesel engine options which includes a 1.5 litre petrol engine capable of producing a maximum power output of 98 PS while the diesel variants will be powered with a 1.5 litre K9K diesel motor that churns out a peak power of 85 PS. Sunny will be offered in manual and automatic variants, automatic trim will be equipped with a XTRONIC CVT. Among the preeminent safety features Anti-Lock-Braking-System with Electric-Brake-Force Distribution and Brake Assist will be offered as standard. Top-of-the-line variant of Sunny is expected to get additional side airbags, for the comfort of passengers a modified music system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity will also be affixed inside the cabin. Centre console will be painted in piano black colour.

The sedan was launched in 2011, after the initial success, Sunny started facing low sales as competition got stiffer. Currently the C segment has many contemporary vehicles on offing including the new and improved Honda City sedan which is now also available in diesel version. Hyundai Verna is yet another viable option in the mid-sized sedan segment, also Ford will soon launch updated Fiesta sedan in domestic market.
