Nissan India continued its upward sales trend in the month of May 2014 by registering sales of 5,021 units last month as against 2,080 units sold in the same month last year. Nissan India witnessed growth in sales by 141 per cent year on year basis. Despite sluggish market condition, Japanese auto maker posted high growth in terms of sales thanks to GO hatchback launched under its low cost brand Datsun. Datsun’s GO hatchback turned out to be the highest contributor in sales with 1,992 units of the vehicle sold in May 2014.
From Nissan’s stable Duster based Terrano SUV contributes majorly towards the monthly sales of the company ever since its introduction in India last year. Nissan will be launching more products under Datsun in India in coming time. The company will launch tweaked Sunny sedan in domestic market soon, among the new launches from Datsun, GO+ MPV is expected to be rolled out during the festive season.
