After the success of the Terrano, Nissan has plans to get three new SUVs in the Indian car market. The Nissan brand will be introducing three new SUVs in the Indian car market. These include the new X-Trail, Qashqai and the Patrol. The Japanese automaker will be introducing the X-Trail first, which is based on the CMF C-D platform. This time the X-Trail will be a seven-seater and it will be powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine producing about 150bhp of power. Nissan didn’t achieve good sales numbers for the X-Trail as it wasn’t macho looking and was a five-seater too. This time the Japanese automaker has taken care of that bit. The pricing of the X-Trail will be about Rs 26 lakhs and it will be CKD (complete knock-down unit). The X-Trail will be launched by mid-2016 or towards the end of next year.

The Nissan Qashqai is the second SUV that the brand will be introducing for the Indian car market. This is the second SUV that will be making its way into India under the Nissan badge. The Qashqai is also based on the same platform like the X-Trail, however it is a lot smaller than the X-Trail. In the product portfolio, the Qashqai will be sitting in between the X-Trail and the Terrano. The engine on offer on this SUV will be the 1.6-litre diesel again and this will be priced at about Rs 17-20 lakhs. This will be a five-seater crossover. Nissan is planning to introduce the Qashqai in early 2017.

Nissan’s third SUV will be the mammoth, Patrol. The Nissan Patrol is powered by a V8 engine and this SUV will be introduced for more of brand building exercise than anything else. The Patrol will be priced close to Rs 1 crore and it will be coming to India by 2017.
