      Nissan Motors strengthens its stand with three times surge in sales in March

      The rapid penetration in the diverse Indian auto market by the Japanese automaker, Nissan Motors is proven with the disclosure of the sales figures for the month of March 2012 that has enabled the company to break its highest monthly sales record of 5,371 units.

      With a three-fold shoot up in the sales volume from 2,101 units in March 2011 to 5,880 units in this March, the company has showcased its concrete stand with rising demands in the Indian market.

      Mr Ishida Takayuki, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India commented, “Breaking the 5,000 sales mark after just 20 months of operation, and repeating the feat for three successive months is a milestone in our continuing development in what is one of Nissan’s most strategically important markets.”

      The auto giant has also revealed in a statement that their vehicles produced locally contribute in larger proportions ranging to about 90 percent to its total sales.

      On this, Mr. Takayuki said, “The models driving growth are produced here at our Oragadam plant in Chennai. From autumn this year, we will add the innovative Evalia urban-class vehicle to this portfolio, thus bringing a wider choice for our valued customers.”

      The bestselling compact hatchback, Nissan Micra has witnessed a surge of 50 percent in its sales volume with an impressive sale of 18,650 units in the financial year 2011-12.

      Even the company’s sophisticated entry-level sedan, Nissan Sunny has perked up the sales volume significantly recording a high sale of 14,164 models since its launch in September 2011.
