      Nissan Motor India appoints Kenichiro Yomura as the new President

      With an attempt to accelerate its decision making and increase operational efficiency in the country, Japanese car maker Nissan has appointed Kenichiro Yomura as the President of Nissan's Indian operation. He would also be the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nissan Motor India Private Limited, which was previously held by Takayuki Ishida.

      New President Yomura would be reporting to Toru Hasegawa, who is the Corporate Vice President for Africa, Middle East and India, for the Nissan Motor Company, He will be operating from the company's headquarters that is located in Chennai. Previously Yomura was a General Manager for overseeing Nissan operations in the Middle East. He has more than three decades of experience in the global automobile industry.

      Another change that has taken place is that Ajay Raghuvanshi is the new Vice President for Business Management at Nissan Motor India. Raghuvanshi will look to take up the different responsibilities of pricing, marketing, sales and operations. Before this assignment, Raghuvanshi was National Head for dealer development and rural sales operations for Hyundai, apart from being Business Head for the whole Western Zone. He also has worked with top auto majors in India, such as Hyundai, Honda, Tata Motor and Yamaha, in the past.

      Informing about its the new plans, a statement was issued by Nissan to the Press, which said, “The appointment marks a significant change in Nissan's senior management structure in India as Mr. Yomura will hold responsibility for Manufacturing, Research & Development and Joint Venture businesses. This will accelerate strategic decision making and streamline operational efficiency to help achieve the company's objective of securing 10% market share in 2016.”

      As per the new role, Yomura would be looking to develop strategies in order to optimize Nissan's performance in business as a brand, managing product introduction and enhance the service network of the company. It is expected that in this new role, Nissan Motor India will be able to make its presence stronger in the Indian automobile industry.
