Japanese car maker Nissan has taken another step to strengthen its production process in the Indian market by opening a new Regional Parts Distribution Centre, which will be dedicated to the northern part of the country. Constructed over a huge space of 97,500 square feet, this facility is located in Luhari, Gurgaon, Haryana, and will seek to facilitate the reduction of delivery lead time to customers.

Not only this, Nissan hopes to ensure the optimization of storage space by various dealerships located in North India. This is being done with the aim of providing assistance in work capital management as well.

The creation of this facility has rendered 57 new employment opportunities, which is quite encouraging. Nissan Motor India’s Managing Director, Arun Malhotra, spoke about this facility and its benefits. “Our new Regional Parts Distribution Centre significantly strengthens our after sales operations in north India. We believe strongly that after sales service is key to customer satisfaction and the punctual, quick and efficient delivery of parts is an important contributor to this. The new facility will allow faster and more frequent deliveries, increasing the convenience for our end users”, he was quoted as saying.

As far as fill rates, number of customer orders met on the basis of existing inventory, are concerned, Nissan has improved significantly and registered a 97 per cent figure for FY14. The Japanese car maker claims that this number is the best as far as the Indian market is concerned. This new facility comprises individual office and canteen blocks along with a colossal storage space, which features heavy duty racking, trolleys and racks for shelving. Nissan India also launched a new software system, which supports multiple depots and is going to help in smooth transferring of parts.
