What you see in the pictures is the 2018 Toyota Auris undergoing winter testing in Northern Sweden. Although this car has been spied earlier, this is the first time our spy photographers have shot the interiors of the test mule.

Despite the dash and door panels being draped with a black cloth, one can immediately spot the new climate control setup and the revised gearshift lever with the wireless charging dock and fresh looking buttons behind it. What isn’t visible however, is the larger infotainment screen that’s rumoured to be borrowed from the C-HR crossover.

From the outside, it seems obvious that designers have tried to make the car sportier by raking the windscreen, lowering the roofline and widening the track. Experts also anticipate the new Auris to rope in more design traits from the relatively new C-HR crossover. It is believed that when the new car is launched, it will be offered with a turbo petrol motor and a hybrid powertrain option. The latter will be a 1.8-litre petrol motor that will work in tandem with an electric motor and the associated electrification/battery pack.

The next Toyota Auris hatchback is due to hit roads around the world in the last quarter of 2018.
