The brochure for the next generation Suzuki Swift Sport has been leaked ahead of the hatchback’s debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It has seen through the evolution of three generations now and as is the case with the previous two models, this car too picks up from the design philosophy of the new generation Swift, but with sportier overtones to make it standout.
The leaked document indicates that the Swift Sport will be offered in six colours and will get some fancy external design elements like the sporty bumpers, black wheels, projector head lamps and a chrome tipped exhaust. Inside, the dials of the Swift have been retained, but now with a red backlight as well as red insert for the all-black dashboard and cabin. It gets the same trip computer found in the India spec Baleno and Ignis models. There has been no official word on the engine option, but we know that it is a 1.4-litre turbocharged unit that is expected to produce around 150bhp and over 200Nm of torque going to the front through either a six-speed MT or a CVT.
In the present scenario, it is unlikely that the Swift Sport is coming to India as it will have a pricing similar to a premium D-segment sedan or SUV, putting it well out of the comfort zone that Maruti Suzuki has for its smaller models. It is never too late to hope though and if nothing else, we know that Maruti Suzuki will bring the Swift Sport as its show stopper for Delhi 2018.
