Mitsubishi is all set to unveil the next-generation Outlander SUV at the New York Auto Show in April 2015. Moreover, the company is also working on the next-generation Pajero Sport which is likely to be launched next year. Interestingly, the company has already started testing the next Pajero Sport SUV. The current generation Pajero was launched in our market in 2012, while the model is on sale globally since 2008.
The next-gen Pajero Sport is likely to get all-new exteriors, but the rugged profile will be carried over from the current model. The sports utility vehicle is expected to be larger than the current model. It is likely to share its styling with the Mitsubishi GR-HEV concept, which was unveiled in 2013.
The next-generation Pajero Sport will get a newly styled front fascia with more prominent grille, flanked by slimmer headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. It is also likely to get a muscular front bumper and slim indicators. The SUV is likely to get aggressive creases that run across the length. Under the bonnet, the new Pajero could get an all-new 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo-diesel motor. The outgoing model is propelled by a 2.5-litre diesel unit. Both manual and automatic variants will be launched in the country.
It is expected that Mitsubishi will unveil the new Pajero Sport by the end of this year. The India launch is expected to take place by 2016. It will rival against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV.
