Hyundai announced that the next generation Verna sedan already had 45000 enquiries before the launch. The automaker says that it expects a conversion rate of 20 per cent of this total number with a significant figure coming from the diesel range.
Accordingly, it aims to sell between 4000 and 5000 units of the car every month. This will be a tall order for the automaker as the outgoing Verna’s sales had dwindled below the 4 digit mark before retirement. Hyundai is confident that the package that this new Verna offers will bring back customers to its fold once again.
They have played on their traditional strength - features to make the car a viable proposition. In this, the new list includes ventilated front seats, odour-masking technology and an automatic boot opening system.
Hyundai has also said that a 1.4-litre diesel engine model is being built in India for export markets and can be introduced here straight away if there is sufficient demand. This will be an upgraded version of the older engine with more power and better efficiency.
The next generation Hyundai Verna has been launched in India in an introductory price range of Rs 7.99 lakhs to Rs 12.61 lakhs. This is a price bracket that positions it between the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. However, this is an introductory price for the first 20,000 customers of the car.
