      Next generation Ford Endeavour aka Everest debuts at 2014 Beijing Motor Show

      Ford has unveiled the new Everest concept at the 2014 Beijing International Motor Show. The Everest will be the new Endeavour for India and is expected to be launched by 2015-2016. New Endeavour has been caught on lens numerous times in different parts of the world while the vehicle was undergoing test runs. Ford will offer the SUV in seven seat layout, a host of new features are expected to be equipped, like the one-touch multi-model all-wheel drivetrain.

      On the exterior front, the new Everest SUV will come with a trapezoidal grille with chrome accents and elongated head lamps. A matte silver skid plate can be seen on the lower side of the bumper, along with this the bumper also accommodates the fog lamp assembly. A lot of chrome work can be seen on the side profile in the form of OVRMs with chrome inserts and chrome door handles. Besides these, sewage window line and rugged wheel arches are also present on the side profile.

      Under the hood , we expect the SUV to be affixed with a 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre diesel powertrains. Ford is likely to offer the SUV in a six-speed manual gearbox and a new automatic transmission. Speculations suggest that before bringing the new Endeavour in India, the company could give a mild facelift to the current Endeavour since the new generation SUV will come to Indian shores by 2015 or 2016. Endeavour faces stiff competition from Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero currently. Reports suggest that new entrant from Tata will also be launched in India in the premium SUV segment.

      The new SUV from Tata is being developed jointly with Tata’s British subsidiary Jaguar and land Rover which will pitch against Toyota Fortuner. Ford India will assemble the new Endeavour locally at its manufacturing unit located in the outskirts of Chennai. Buzz has it that Ford could price new Endeavour somewhere around Rs 19 lakh for the basic version and the high end version could be tagged at Rs 25 lakh. Endeavour is the premium SUV from the stables of the American auto maker in India, the vehicle started its itinerary in India in 2003 and has successfully completed 11 years in the domestic market.
