Fiat, the Italian automaker, introduced the Linea in 2007, and the vehicle received a major makeover in 2014. However, the overall styling and looks of the new Linea remained pretty much similar to the old model. Not just styling, the mechanics of the sedan too remain unchanged.

The company is working on the next generation Linea sedan, which has been recently spotted testing outside India. The spotted vehicle was fully covered, but it looks slightly larger than the current model. Media reports suggest that the company is aiming to reduce the production costs and make the new model more profitable in global markets. If reports are to be believed, the next generation Linea sedan will lose the 'Linea' badge and is likely to wear the Bravo sedan name.

The next Linea will also get a station wagon variant, which however might not make its way to the Indian market. The sedan is expected to be based on the Small-Wide Architecture that also underpins the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X. The vehicle will be manufactured by Fiat's Turkish joint venture, Tofas, in 2016.

In terms of design, the next-gen Linea is expected to share cues with the Viaggio sedan, which is on sale in the Chinese market. The vehicle will be powered by the new Fiat's turbocharged petrol and diesel fuel option. The next-gen Linea is expected to be unveiled by 2016 end for international market, while the India launch is expected by 2017.
