The next-generation Audi Q7 has launched in India at Rs 72 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the premium plus variant and Rs 77.5 lakh for the technology pack. The car was unveiled in late 2014 and is third generation for the German automaker’s flagship SUV.

This 2016 Audi Q7 gets a evolutionary design and now the rounded edges of the previous car have become sharper and more angular. The chrome grille is flanked by two matrix LED headlamps which integrates all the functions of the front lights into a single unit. The side profile of the Q7 remains similar to the outgoing model but gets a lower roofline and completely new design for the alloy wheels. Moving over to the back we can see the LED lamps and sloping roofline which includes a spoiler.

The cabin is decently spacious and trimmed out in beige while the dashboard is a combination of grey leather and chrome plastics for the control surfaces. The MMI system now gets a seven-inch touchscreen display with a special pad where the passenger can enter commands through writing. The Q7 comes fitted with a Bose surround sound system. The third row can be folded down for additional space in the boot.

Audi is only offering the Q7 in the 45 TDI variant. It is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that produces 268bhp and 600Nm of torque. Power is routed to all four wheels via a eight-speed AT and the Quattro AWD mechanism.

The Audi Q7 competes with the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE rival. It is currently being brought into the Indian market via the CBU route but it is expected that local assembly will start from next year.
