The 2017 Euro-spec Volkswagen Polo has been digitally rendered, giving us all a rough look at the upcoming generation model. The Polo has been around for quite a while now and is facing some stiff competition from the likes of Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta and the Renault Clio. With the 2017 model, however, VW has packed in a few neat tricks that will see them getting back in the limelight.

The 2017 Polo, for instance, is said to be the first vehicle to make use of the smallest version of VW’s MQB platform. Called A0, this new platform has been developed to work around much simpler setups compared to the MQB which uses complicated large chassis bits to underpin a wide range of cars belonging to different body styles.

The next-gen Polo is also rumoured to be significantly bigger inside with a wheelbase that is longer by as much as 90mm compared to the current car. The longer wheelbase will certainly add to the rear-seat space and comfort – something that the current-gen Polo lacks.

Expectedly, the 2017 Polo range will rely heavily on small turbocharged TSI and TDI engines. The range will include a variety of units ranging from 75bhp 1-litre to 1.5-litre 160bhp engines. Due for sale by the end of 2017, the new Polo will rival the likes of the Suzuki Swift and the Honda Jazz in European markets.
