Potential customers wait to drive home the new-gen Hyundai Verna finally ends as bookings for the vehicle have started in India. The next-gen Hyundai Verna will be launched in India on 22nd August 2017. The fifth generation Verna gets the new K2 platform which the company claims to offer a superior ride and handling over the current generation model. Additionally, the new model will also get a host of new technology and advanced set of features.

      New-Gen Verna front

Under the hood, the next-gen Hyundai Verna continues to offer petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by a 1.6-litre dual VTVT engine that generates 120bhp of power. The diesel version gets a 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine that generates 125bhp of power. Both the engines are available in six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission options.

The next-gen Verna gets projector headlamps and LED tail lamps. Hyundai claims that the new-gen Verna gets a Super Body Structure frame which is built out of 50 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). The front suspension uses McPherson strut with coil springs and gas shock absorbers along with a front stabilizer, which claims to help reduce body roll when cornering. The car manufacturer further claims that the rear suspension geometry has been modified with vertical angled rear shock absorbers and coil springs on the coupled torsion beam axle which offers stable and comfortable ride. The standard Motor-Driven Power Steering System (MDPS) has been tuned to provide superior feedback while cornering and at high speeds to offer precise handling response and a confident drive. The front wheel caster angle has been reportedly modified to further enhance the steering feedback to the driver at highway speeds.

      New-Gen Verna rear

The next-gen Verna gets 16-inch alloy wheels, seven-inch touchscreen with smartphone app, front ventilated seats and rear AC vents. For a premium feel, the new Verna will get beige and black interior theme, along with six airbags, impact sensing door unlock and ABS with EBD. Post launch, the next-gen Verna will compete against the likes of Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
