      New Year brings new options for buyers in Indian auto market

      It seems that the New Year has promised to woo individuals who are scouting for their dream car. Reportedly, the new cars to be launched this year are sure to put buyers in dilemma as to which model to buy. The new launches will include facelifts, upgrades, reworked engines and over dozen of models with segment definers. Followed by a tough year, the auto makers are looking at 2013 to boost the sales with new models.

      Heading the bandwagon, Tata Motors seems all set to introduce the diesel version of its cheapest car Nano. This car is highly anticipated in the country as the rumours state that the model will deliver a fuel economy of around 40 kmpl. Mahindra is also planning to introduce a reworked version of Reva NXR, which is believed to set new standards in entry-level electric hatchback segment. Hyundai is gearing up to launch the diesel version of its flagship i10. A facelift version of Maruti Suzuki WagonR is also accepted to sparkle at the Indian shores. Reportedly, Fiat is also planning to launch a revamped version of Punto in the Indian auto industry. In premium segment, Mercedes-Benz is looking forward to introduce A-Class small car, which will get direct face off from upcoming BMW 1 Series.

      The auto makers have also eyed sedan segment to lure the Indian buyers. Chevrolet has geared up to introduce the sedan version of its SAIL hatchback. Skoda, the completely owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, is also planning to launch a reworked model of its Octavia sedan, which was brought to the Indian market last decade. New Fiat Linea is also on the list, which will experience a stiff competition from upcoming Honda Amaze. Experts believe that Honda will also bring City Diesel to the daylight. Ford Fiesta is also expected to mark presence on the Indian roads in 2013. In luxury sedan segment, Audi is looking forward to introduce Audi A3 Saloon, which is sure to strike right chords with the hearts of Indian buyers.

      The India auto aficionados will be also surprised with the launch of several Utility Vehicles (Uvs). Ashok Leyland is planning to foray in the Indian auto industry with its new UV Stile, which is built on the manufacturing platform of Evalia. Unhappy with the success of Tucson, Chevrolet is planning to introduce a new big-sized vehicle Enjoy, which is expected to turn the tides in its favour in UV segment. Following Chevrolet, another indigenous auto maker, Ford is also planning to launch its much awaited EcoSport. This model was showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and was able to gather a magnitude of audience across its stand. Force Motor will be also joining the bandwagon of 2013 launches by expressing its intentions to introduce Gurkha Trax and Force MPV. In premium segment, Honda is expected to break-off the cover from its CR-V. Jeep Grand Cherokee will be also joining the league of new premium SUV launches, giving a hard competition to other segment rulers.

      With so many launches, selecting a suitable car will be a daunting task for buyers whether they are looking for a hatchback, sedan or MPVs/SUVs.
