      New Volkswagen Vento Coming in July 2010

      Volkswagen recently launched its premium hatchback model Polo in India. It had also announced that it will also bring a sedan version of Polo later in the year. Now the company has mentioned that the to be introduced Polo sedan in the country will be christened as VW Vento. This is the latest scoop from Autocar India which reveals that the new VW sedan code named as VW251 is ready to be launched in July 2010 as Volkswagen Vento. Vento means “wind” in Portuguese and Italian.

      Volkswagen will be launching both the petrol and diesel models of its new sedan. Both the engines are expected to be of 1.6L capacity generating power of 105bhp. There are no detailed technical specifications available but the diesel model is expected to deliver 25.5 kg of torque as compared to 15.8 kg of petrol engine.

      VW engineers have kept Vento similar to Polo up to the B-pillar and the changes in front are only in the grille and the headlights. The major differences are visible after the B-pillar where the engineers have extended the wheelbase by 50mm to provide more legroom to the rear passengers. The model is expected to be priced between Rs. 7-9 lakh.
