Volkswagen has launched a new, more powerful variant of its Polo hatchback model in India priced at Rs. 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model is powered by a 1.6L 4-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 105PS @ 5250 rpm and a Torque of 153NM @ 3750 rpm and is mated with 5-speed manual gear box. It claims to have a fuel efficiency of 15.96 kmpl and is available immediately. The car model is currently being manufactured at the Volkswagen’s Chakan facility near Pune.
"With the introduction of this variant, the Polo becomes even more exciting for our customers as it becomes more powerful and fun to drive while continuing to maintain all the features available in the 1.2-L Polo," said Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen India Director for passenger cars.
Volkswagen had launched the 1.2L variant of Polo in March this year which is also being manufactured at Chakan. The existing petrol variant of the Polo comes at Rs. 4.42 lakh-Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The diesel Polo is offered between Rs. 5.42 lakh and Rs. 6.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Besides the Polo, Volkswagen currently assembles at its Aurangabad plant, the Jetta and the Passat and further offers the imported New Beetle, SUV Touareg, Phaeton, as well as the recently launched Vento.
