      New Toyota Corolla Altis likely to be showcased at Auto Expo 2014

      One of the world's most renowned sedans, Toyota Corolla has been launched successfully in Indonesia. The Japanese car maker recently presented its iconic car in a whole new avatar. 11th generation of this car, which is Toyota Corolla Altis, was offered to the Indonesian auto market and the car looks stunning. Also, the auto maker has hiked the car's price by almost Rs. 82,000 as compared to the ongoing models. It is largely anticipated that this car will feature at the Auto Expo 2014 and prospective buyers are eagerly waiting for their most lovable car to arrive in the domestic market soon.

      New generation Toyota Corolla Altis has a new dynamical look and refurbished interiors for offering a unique driving experience. At front, the grille looks more sleek and encloses the company's iconic logo within its 4-chrome slats. LEDs have been lumped for daytime running and headlights are more elongated than its previous generation version. Window panes flaunt a new garnish and rear is assisted by a camera for smooth parking. Also, new 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels enhance the looks of this new car beautifully. Side mirrors are revamped with new looks and are integrated with indicators. Front bonnet is developed meticulously in accordance with new regulations of road passenger safety. Overall, the new Toyota Corolla Altis is designed longer by extending the wheelbase up to 100 mm and stretched slightly wider than its predecessor.

      At interiors, the car maker's innovation are perceived everywhere. A new 3-spoke Urethane steering wheel is mounted with consoles and a new monochrome integrated display has been employed that features speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. Finely stitched leather upholstery perfectly combines with the newly developed infotainment system that provides navigation consoles, multimedia system and also internet connectivity. New compartments have been added for small luggages and seating arrangement has been made commodious for a soothing ride. Passengers can also recline the seat according to their comfort and driver seat is height adjustable. Also the provision of manual rear sunshade arrives with this car.

      Under the hood, new Toyota Corolla Altis is tapped with a 4-cylinder 1.8-litre petrol engine that belts out 149 bhp with a peak torque of 190 Nm. It is coupled with a new 7-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic and Paddle Shift transmission system. Safety additions of 8 airbags, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Stability control (VSC) and Brake Assist (BA) are included in the overall package.

      The ongoing version of this car in India is available with the option of either 1.8-litre petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel engine. Experts are of a view that when this car will arrive in domestic auto market, it will be assisted with a 1.8-litre VVT-i engine, but the diesel engine capacity might be increased to deliver more power output. Toyota has not officially divulged any plans about pricing but it is conjectured that this new car will be steeper on cost and will face stiff competition from newly launched Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Sonata and Volkswagen Jetta. Toyota Corolla Altis has recorded efficient sales in its older attire and had gradually become the primary choice for buyers in premium sedan segment. It will be compelling to see how the car will retain the top-notch spot in its new avatar.
