      New Tata Nano variants coming this fiscal

      Tata Motors, the leading auto maker in the Indian market, said on Saturday that it will be rolling-out new variants of its cheapest portfolio car Tata Nano in the current financial year. Though the company hasn’t revealed any details of these new variants, they are expected to be the much awaited diesel variants.

      At present, the company offers the Tata Nano in three petrol variants in the price range of Rs 1.41 lakh and Rs 1.97 lakh. The Nano offers a considerably high mileage of 21 kmpl and has very low emission levels.

      So far, it has been a roller-coaster ride for the Tata Nano in the Indian market as the sales figures of the car have been as low as 509 units in (November 2010) to over 10,000 units in (April 2011). The Nano model has been unchallenged in its segment since its launch in year 2009.

      Other upcoming cars of the company which will be launched in the country over a period of next one year include a new edition of Indica Vista, a limited edition of Mazda, new model of Sports Utility Vehicle Tata Safari, and a new Tata Aria two wheel drive (2WD).
