Japanese car maker Suzuki has made an announced that the new Vitara (set to be launched in India as a replacement of the Grand Vitara) holds the distinction of being the cleanest 4x4 Sports Utility Vehicle (non-hybrid) in the automobile market of United Kingdom. The diesel version of the car has a CO2 emission level of 111g/km, which is lower than any other vehicle in its segment. It is expected to hit showrooms in United Kingdom by April and will be launched in India by early 2016. Not only is the SUV expected to do well in India, the manufacturer is hoping to offer a maximum mileage level as high as 28 kmpl. Experts believe that this is likely to spur sales of the SUV, which, in its current version, has not done really well in India.

Low emission levels of the Vitara are being attributed to the efficient engine line-up put to use by Suzuki. The Vitara, to be launched in UK, will be available in both petrol and diesel versions, powered by 1.6-litre engines. Suzuki Vitara’s 1.6-litre M16A petrol and D16AA diesel engines will churn out power levels of up to 119 BHP. Peak torque levels are likely to touch 156 Nm (petrol) and 320 Nm (diesel).

Apart from mechanical changes, the Vitara will be seen in a fresh design that is completely different from the previous version. Suzuki has focused heavily on providing multiple features in order to attract buyers. Some of the features that will be available in the new Vitara include LED projector headlamps, machined alloys and 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system.
