The next generation Suzuki Swift is due for autumn launch in 2010. The car has won many kudos and accolades ever since it was first launched in May 2005. It was Car of the Year 2005 and rapidly became one of the most popular super minis on the roads not only in India but also globally. Now with a model life of 6 years, the model is due for a makeover and will be launched late next year at the Paris Auto Show. It will go on sale in the UK by end of 2010.

The new Suzuki Swift will come in a range of 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6L petrol engines. Indian model is currently powered by 1.3l G13B engine which will be replaced by 1.2l K series of the Ritz version. Since the Japanese have a desire for 4WD, the customers will have a choice of 1.6L VVT engine delivering 125 bhp. Suzuki has also introduced hybrid system where the model will have a capacity of 20 km on battery power that will be useful save fuel during peak hours in the city and also deliver a smooth ride. However, the hybrid model will be available only by late 2011 or early 2012.

The new Suzuki Swift features camouflaged rounded off features that will have sleeker looks than erstwhile model. From the looks of it, the new Suzuki Swift seems a lot bigger with more interior space and a bigger boot. Suzuki Swift was until recently the largest selling model in the UK and it accounts for nearly 40 percent of the company's sales across Europe. In India, the model still remains the best seller in MSIL product portfolio. Launch date of the new model for India is not decided so far.
