The Yeti compact SUV from Skoda has been a popular pick in the upmarket SUV segment in the country. In recent time, with many international and local car-makers venturing into this segment with their interesting line-up, the sales for the Yeti SUV had dropped considerably. As reported earlier the Czech car-maker had been working on rolling out a face-lift version of its Yeti SUV in India. Going by speculations, the company is expected to launch the new Yeti SUV in domestic market by July this year. First glimpse of the face-lifted version was seen at the 2014 Auto Expo held earlier this year in Greater Noida.
Engine configuration will remain same as in the current version. Skoda will offer Yeti in front wheel and all wheel drive variants. The front wheel drive variant of Yeti will come powered with the same 2.0 litre diesel motor that engenders a maximum power output of 108 Bhp and a top torque of 250 Nm. The all wheel drive trim of Yeti will be housed with the same engine producing enhanced power and torque output of 138 Bhp and 320 Nm respectively.
The refreshingly new Skoda Yeti is likely to receive a comprehensive cosmetic make over, rendering it a completely different look as compared to the outgoing version. Changes have been made to the vehicle in tandem with Skoda’s new line-up. On the exterior front, additions have been made to the front and rear. The front fascia gets a new grille; rectangular shaped head lamps with optional bi-xenons and LED daytime running lights. Rear side of the vehicle sports a new C-shaped tail lights with optional LEDs and a reworked tailgate. To further enhance the overall appearance of the vehicle, Skoda has also affixed a set of new alloy wheels. The company is said to offer tweaked Yeti in new colour options.
However, the face-lifted model of Yeti is already on sale in several global markets. For Indian market a hypothetical starting price of Rs 17 lakh is being speculated for new Yeti. The cabin has been tweaked to render a new look. The vehicle now sports new steering wheel, new dashboard trim and fabric seat trims and patterns. Few other features like automatic parallel parking system and a rear view camera will also be offered as optional.
