Skoda Auto, the Czech auto maker owned by the Volkswagen Group, has high expectations from the third generation Octavia. Expected to be launched shortly after the unveiling, the new Skoda Octavia might well make an impact on the mid-size sedan segment, which is highly competitive. The upcoming model is expected to be based on the Volkswagen's Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB) platform, known as 'Modular Transversal Toolkit in English. This platform makes use of a matrix of components, which are aimed at producing cars that are fuel efficient, have reduced emission, and at the same time are safe as well as comfortable. It must be noted that the MQB platform has been used in several cars of the other brands owned by the Volkswagen Group.

Industry experts say that the new Skoda Octavia is expected to be put on sale in India alongside the Laura, another mid-size sedan from the Czech auto maker. However, it is also a possibility that this might be continued till Skoda launches an entry level variant of the new Octavia in order to replace the Laura. It is believed that the new Skoda Octavia will be more spacious than the Laura, which implies that it might be close to the Superb.

Speculations are rife that the new Skoda Octavia will be available in three engine options including two petrol (1.4-litre and 1.8-litre TSI) and one diesel (2-litre TDI). Auto analysts believe that Skoda India might add an entry level variant powered by 1.6 litre diesel engine in order to control the model's cost. The new Skoda Octavia is expected to be priced above the Laura, but at the same time would be a better value for money purchase. After all, the new Octavia is based on a new platform, which will make it more spacious and technologically advanced.

Skoda India has embarked itself on a journey of revival for the coming months. After enduring a torrid time, things are finally looking bright for the Volkswagen owned Czech auto maker. There has been a change in the outlook of the management, who will be looking to drive sales. Strengthening the dealership networking, improving research and development, devising new growth policies and designing productive marketing strategies will be the company's main targets.

In order to achieve all these aims, Skoda Auto India has appointed Pawel Szuflak as its Director for Sales and Marketing. Appointed in June 2103, Szuflak has a long association of around 16 years with Skoda Auto. Also, he has been in the auto industry for a long time, which has helped him gain high level of expertise.
