The much awaited Skoda Octavia (Skoda Felicia in Russian Markets) is conspicuously absent from the Moscow International Auto Show. Skoda is currently displaying its current line up in the Russian markets including Laura, Fabia with RS version, Yeti and Roomster. The new Skoda Octavia will be built on VW Vento platform and will be smaller than the existing model. Skoda had earlier reported that it will launch a new ‘entry level sedan’ for the emerging markets including Russia and India.

The new sedan, derived from the VW Polo Sedan is a low-cost strategy for the Czech brand as it wants to enter into force in emerging markets, Russia being the largest of them. Beginning the first time on the Russian market, Skoda will launch the new model with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine with 75 kW/102 hp, will then be offered to customers and TDI diesel engines. Next upcoming international auto show is the Paris Auto Show and speculations are rife that the new Octavia might be unveiled there. The new model will have minimal safety equipments and facilities. The car will be extremely competitively priced especially suitable for the Indian market which still hosts one of the most price sensitive customers. Strength and space will remain reliable and guaranteed by the length of 4.5 meters.
