Skoda India is geared up to come up with yet another exceptional creation, Skoda Lauretta. This new model is bound to create an ever-lasting impression in the auto market, keeping in view the flawless journey of the giant automaker. The all-new product by Skoda India would be priced at around Rs. 7 lacs, for the base petrol model. As far as the base diesel model is concerned, it is expected to be tagged at around Rs. 8 lacs.
The price of the new sedan is believed to attract enough competition in its segment. Skoda Lauretta’s overall looks and design is believed to be inspired from the latest Skoda concept, which was showcased at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Additionally, the appearance has been shaped-up to reflect the looks of its sibling Skoda Fabia and the sedan Volkswagen Vento.
The new Skoda Lauretta falls in the category of mid-range sedan of Skoda, which is a subsidiary brand of the leader Volkswagen. The name of the new car ‘Lauretta’ has been creatively coined to include names of the two aces, Laura (Skoda) and Jetta (Volkswagen). Besides, Skoda Lauretta is available in both petrol and diesel variants.
The petrol engine comprises 1.6 litre, 4-Cylinder, in-line DOHC Engine. This muscular engine offers a maximum power of 103 hp at 7700 rpm. It delivers a maximum torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm. Additionally, the model comes with a 5-speed manual transmission gear.
On the other hand, Lauretta’s diesel engine is equipped with a 1.6 litre, 4-cylinder, CR diesel engine. The diesel variant renders power maximum power of 135 hp at 4400 rpm and maximum torque of 250 Nm at 2500 rpm. It possesses a 5-speed manual transmission gear akin to that of the petrol version. Taking into consideration the technicalities of both the engines, it can be concluded that both the variants possess a mettlesome configuration.
The petrol version of Skoda Lauretta offers its users an overall mileage of 15 kmpl, while the fuel average provided by the diesel engine model is 20 kmpl. Hence, with respect to the fuel efficiency, the model delivers a decent on-road performance.
