Renault India Private Limited, the domestic arm of French car maker Renault, has launched a new entry level diesel trim of its Scala model with a price tag of Rs. 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new base variant of the Renault mid-size sedan is called Scala RxE and is nothing but a trimmed down version of the higher end RxL and RxZ models. The company has removed most of the extra frills but has decided to keep all the major safety features intact in the new Scala RxE.
The Renault Scala RxE mid-sized sedan has highly competitive price tag and top draw safety equipments as its strong suits. However, the trimmed down version is devoid of leather upholstery and chrome garnish in its interior setting, along with steering mounted audio controls, rear defogger, fog lamps and climate control system. The safety fitments provided in the new Scala RxE include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), along with anti-pinch power windows and a driver’s side airbag. It must be noted that the new base Scala trim also retains the double din stereo system, available in the higher end RxL and RxZ variants.
Under its hood, the Renault Scala RxE is powered by the 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine, which churns out a top power output of 85 bhp at 3,750 rpm and a highest torque output of 200 Nm at 2,000 rpm. Priced at Rs. 8.29 lakh, the Scala RxE is available with the complete Renault car package, comprising extendable 2+2 year or 80,000 km warranty and benefits like 24x7 roadside and navigation assistance, amongst others.
