The Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG is fitted with a 5.5-litre V8 turbocharged engine. The seven-speed multi-clutch gearbox transmits power to its all wheels, which ensures a powerful drive. One of the key highlights of this car is that it offers the driver three modes for driving, namely Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual. The Controlled Efficiency driving mode, in particular, comes with an additional stop/start function that facilitates improvement in the fuel efficiency.

A feature named Magic Body Control system has been included in the S63 AMG. The Magic Body Control system comprises a camera that is mounted with the windscreen in order to analyse the road conditions and adjust the air spring settings for maximum comfort. There is a 12.3-inch display screen with AMG-style graphics in the new S Class, which provides information related to driving performance and the engine. The suspension set up of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG features conventional steel springs, along with the ADS Plus adaptive damping system. The ADS Plus system provides the option of continuous adjustment of dampers in two modes, Comfort and Sport.

Constructed on the AMG Lightweight Performance philosophy, the S63 AMG is around 100 kg lighter than its previous version. The reduction in weight combined with the efficient drive system ensures better fuel efficiency. Ola Kallenius, the Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-AMG, said "Following the successful launch of the A 45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG, the new S 63 AMG highlights our expertise in the automotive high-end segment. Lightweight construction and absolute performance are among the key strengths of the new flagship model from Mercedes-AMG."

Tobias Moers, Head of Overall Vehicle Development and Board Member of Mercedes-AMG, explained the company's aim to make the new S-Class a more performance driven vehicle. On this, he was quoted saying, "We have unquestionably achieved our aim of making the new S 63 AMG more powerful, lightweight and efficient than its predecessor. In terms of driving dynamics as well, the S 63 AMG has made giant leaps forward."
