Swift, the popular model from the house of Maruti will be updated with a new variant S. The main point of difference between this model and the rest will be the increase in the power output of this machine. The 1.3 litre DDiS engine will produce a maximum power of 90 PS and will be placed at the top of the entire line up of hatchbacks of Maruti. The sales reports of Swift have always been one of the highest and the domestic market is ideal for this car. The new facelift version of Swift will be introduced sometime later in India and currently it is doing the rounds in the global market. In the meantime, the manufacturer has released a teaser of the new more powerful and sporty car, S.
The S in the name defines sporty and will have the same engine as its current version. However, it will have a variable geometry turbocharger and will be capable of producing a power of 90 PS and 200 Nm of maximum torque. Similar engine with the same output has also been installed in the Ciaz and the Ertiga. The bigger engine, 1.4 litre K-series petrol, might be installed in the model sometime in the future; however, as of now, it is not possible due to non-compliance with the model. It is capable of producing a maximum power of 95 PS.
The current model produces only 75 PS of power with a maximum torque output of 190 Nm. There is also a model, which churns out 87 PS of power, but the engine, which produces that power is the 1.2 litre K-series motor. The high tuned engine will be available only on the higher end variants, while the old one will be installed in the lesser versions.
The S is expected to be one of the premium cars of this brand once launched. There will be a significant difference in pricing between the regular model and the updated one. Production starts later this year and the launch date will be fixed following that.
