Maruti Suzuki will launch a new Swift for the Indian market next month. Ahead of the launch, Maruti Suzuki has released all the details of the vehicle and here are the top 4 features.

      New Swift top 4 features

      New platform
This new Swift has jumped onto the Heartect platform like the Baleno and the Dzire and so had shed a good amount of weight as compared to the outgoing second generation model. In terms of kerb weights, the ZXi/ZDi models of the second gen Swift are 965kgs/1060kgs while the equivalent ZXi/ZDi models weighs in the region of 855-880kgs and 955kgs-985kgs respectively. The wheelbase has gone up marginally from 2430mm to 2450mm while boot space has been increased from 205-litres to 268-litres.

      Bigger feature list
The outgoing model even at the top of the scale only got a colour display enabled 2-DIN system, steering controls and a climate control with a basic interface. This new generation Swift gets the SmartPlay infotainment system seen in the Dzire, Baleno and the S-Cross. This system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and mirroring technology.

      Enhanced Safety features
All variants of the Swift now get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, seat belt reminder and pre-tensioners as well pedestrian protection compliance. In the outgoing model there was an optional variant for every model that offered ABS with EBD and dual airbags.

      Automatated Manual transmission
As expected, this new Swift will finally see the hatchback enter the world of automatic transmissions. The Swift too will be offered with an AMT (automated manual transmission) both for diesel and petrol models. This setup already exists on the Dzire and the Ignis.
