General Motors India has launched LPG variant of its popular small car Spark in India. The new variant will cost around Rs. 3.52 lakh ex showroom Delhi. "We plan to continue to introduce the variants of the Spark that target different groups of customers. This will enable us to achieve our goal of becoming a market leader in India by giving our customers the vehicles that they want, when they want them," said General Motors India President and Managing Director Karl Slym.
The next model lined up for the launch from GM India is its sedan variant, Chevrolet Cruz which will be a cross over model. It may also launch a mini car by December 2009.
GM India has already indicated that it remains unaffected by the bankruptcy filed by its parent company and the Indian arm shall continue to function as before. Overall GM India is expected to launch five new models in next two years. One of the small cars coming from GM India is being developed on the Beat platform which will be launched in Europe and Asian markets.
