Lexus, the luxury brand of Japanese car maker Toyota, is set to finally showcase its new RX Sports Utility Vehicle at the New York Motor Show, which will be held in April 2015. The firm has released a teaser image to give an insight into the muscular appearance of the SUV. According to a report by Auto Express, this car was spotted testing some time ago, and initially it is expected to come in a hybrid-only version in the United Kingdom.

According to the teaser, new Lexus RX features a style inspired from the NX crossover, which has a radical design. This SUV has a smooth front-end, more so than that of the NX, along with LED headlights featuring a boomerang style. Lexus, however, has taken a lot of care while releasing the teaser to not reveal excessive information. Despite not showing much, a butch rear wheel arch and unique side window can be gauged quite easily.

The long front portion of the current version and rear overhangs are most likely to be retained in the new variant. This further certifies the fact that new Lexus RX is a 4x4 vehicle meant for cruising and not an off-roader. The rear part of this car includes a pair of exhausts, which have a trapezoidal design. Though the Lexus RX will be sold in the UK as a hybrid car, a petrol version is likely to be available in other international markets. In all likelihood, this car will be fitted with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine mated to a CVT automatic transmission gearbox.

Not many details are available present but according to the information at hand, Lexus is not trying anything fancy with its SUV. Lexus RX was the highest selling premium SUV in the United States market in 2013. The lack of a diesel model has deterred this car from performing exceptionally in the United Kingdom but the firm is hoping for better sales with the new version. More information is likely to be released as time progresses and sources claim that Lexus RX will make its way into showrooms by the end of 2015. It is going to compete with models like Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE Class and BMW X5.
