The Jeep Wrangler embodies one of the most iconic and recognisable shapes in the auto world. Jeep has decided to update its brawny SUV for 2018.

The new Wrangler was spied during its testing in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA which is subsequently the home of Chrysler, Jeep’s parent company. Although the car was camouflaged, some of the changes made still caught the eye. The new Wrangler seems to have received some aerodynamic changes to make it less upright and more streamlined. It should however, still retain the charm and most of the looks of the classic Jeep. The platform meanwhile, is expected to remain a traditional body-on-frame setup. A fixed windshield, longer front end and more bulging front fenders represent the other exterior changes on the new car.

Engines for the 2018 Wrangler include the Pentastar V6 motor from the current car with the addition of a turbo-diesel 3.0L V6 and a Hybrid powertrain for American and global markets being high possibilities. Both engines will be mated to an eight-speed automatic to increase the Jeep’s fuel efficiency figures. However, Jeep have insisted that the Wrangler's off-road abilities will only be improved, despite the changes for economy.

The new Wrangler will be showcased early next year and is expected to go on sale by the summer. This car will be sold in India but could be delayed by a few years as the current generation Wrangler is just about to be launched here.
