Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), the second largest car maker in the Indian market, has said that it will increase the production of recently launched midsize sedan Verna. The new Verna Fluidic was launched in May 2011, in the price range of Rs.699,000-Rs.1,074,500 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Verna Fluidic has been receiving a staggering response from the Indian buyers and Hyundai has already received 20,000 bookings for the car in the Indian market.
Speaking to the reporters in the national capital, "In order to cater to the strong demand, we are trying to increase the production to help us reduce the waiting period and clear the backlog of bookings at the earliest."
The Verna Fluidic is available in four engine options including 1.4L petrol, 1.6 L petrol, 1.4L CRDi and 1.6L diesel VGT engine. Both petrol and diesel versions of the car are available with 5 speed manual transmission. Moreover, the 1.6 L petrol and 1.6L diesel engine versions of the car are available with 4-speed automatic transmission.
The current portfolio of the company in the Indian market includes small hatchbacks like Santro, i10, premium hatch i20, entry level sedan Accent, Verna, and premium sedan Sonata Transform and SUV Santa Fe.
