A totally revised version of Hyundai Santro is ready to be launched in the Indian market on September 01. This statement was made by HS LHeem, MD, HMIL while talking to the press at the annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). However, he refused to divulge any further details of the same.
Hyundai is also ready to phase out Getz from India in next two years. It is the premium hatchback model in Hyundai portfolio but with the launch of new i-series model, Getz seems to be getting redundant. The model will be completely phased out by 2011.
The company is also planning to launch a new 800cc car in India in next few years. Hyundai may be shifting part of its export base to Europe but it still intends to hold the Indian market firmly. A small 800cc car will further Hyundai’s product portfolio as nearly 70 percent of the car buyers in India fall below the price range of Rs. 4 lakh.
Hyundai is also ready to bring the new Santa Fe to India next year. The new SUV is much awaited by the fans who were expecting it to be launched by February this year. However, the company stalled its plans due to the economic meltdown and falling sales.
